Chisholm Trail Middle School is one of the 10 middle schools of the Round Rock Independent School District. The school is located in Round Rock, TX. Chisholm Trail is named after the Chisholm Trail which was used for cattle drives up to Oklahoma and Kansas in the late 19th century. CTMS feeds to Round Rock High School along with Cedar Valley and C.D. Fulkes [1]

History

The school was built in the 1970s as Round Rock High School's 9th grade center but was converted to a middle school and opened in 1981.[2] CTMS has received many building additions including a new library and classroom wings. In the late 1990s the school added an extra gym with a stage and an Orchestra Hall.

Awards and recognition

The campus meets the "Recognized" state performance rating. In 1993, the school was recognized as a National School of Excellence by the US Department of Education, and designated a Texas Mentor School in 1991 [2]
